Kumarakom, better known as a tourist destination located near Kottayam with the Vembanadu Lake as its backdrop is popular among tourists for its flora and fauna. It is home to a large no. of fresh water species like the Pearl Spot fish( Karimeen),the Prawns(Chenmeen), Shrimp(Konchu), Kalanchi, Cat fish( Muzhi) and more. Kumarakom chain of restaurants saw its origin in Kottayam, where the family stepped into hospitality business with outdoor catering. The first Kumarakom Restaurant started in Chennai in the year 2001and has grown to 9 branches with outlets in Chennai, Dubai and Bangalore.
