Kumarakom
saw its beginnings at Kottayam, a town in Kerala,
where Sojan and Mercy a malayalee couple started
their first venture in the hospitality industry
by doing outdoor catering. Following that they
started a Kerala restaurant inside Black Thunder,
a Water Theme Park at Mettupalayam on the Ooty
Main Road. This joint was very well known for
its authentic mouth watering Kerala cuisine, cherished
by all malayalees and non malayalees who visited
the park from all over the country, and from all
over the world. Meanwhile innumerable well - wishers
from Chennai inspired them to relocate and start
a similar Kerala Restaurant in their hometown.
Sojan and Mercy studied the Chennai market well
and based on popular opinion they decided to take
a giant leap.
They started the first Kumarakom Restaurant at
Nungambakkam in Chennai three years ago. Today
you will find Kumarakom not only in the heart
of the city but at Adyar near the Malar Hospital,
at Ramavaram near the Chennai Trade Center AND
there's no stopping them
they intend to open
another restaurant at Anna Nagar very soon.
